Step 2: Define new academic terms
If this is your first time using the system, the system will automatically load the Academic Terms page so that you
can set up new terms. In order to schedule classes throughout the school year, you need to create terms to divide
up the year. You may label them as terms, quarters, semesters or any other typical name used at your school.
Terms can be created manually one-by-one, or you can create up to 5 years of terms at once using the term setup wizard.
To create new terms manually:
- Click the provided link on the Academic Terms page (the "here" link at the end of the second paragraph)
- The Edit Term page will load. On this page, you will need to fill in the requested information:
- Title: This is the title of the term that will be displayed on all pages in the site.
- Start Day: The starting day of the term. You can enter this manually or click the calendar icon next to this field to select it from a calendar.
- End Day: The ending day of the term. You can enter this manually or click the calendar icon next to this field to select it from a calendar.
- Click the Submit button to add the new term to the system. You will be returned to the Academic Terms page and the new
term you just created will be listed. If you want to add another term, click the Create New Term button or click the setup
wizard link.
Alternately, you can create a set of new terms using the provided term setup wizard:
- For the first box labeled Create an academic term called: - fill this box in with the desired name for the set of
terms you wish to create - the wizard will create a new set of terms using that name followed by the year they
fall under. For example, entering Spring will generate a new set of terms labeled as Spring 2008, Spring 2009,
Spring 2010 and so on.
You will then need to select the start date for the new terms, the length of the terms and how many terms you
wish to create. You may create up to 5 years of terms at once.
- Click the Click here to continue button and the new terms will be created.
