MicroGrade Home > Tech Support Center > Knowledge Base > Using a 4-Point Scale With MicroGrade

Many schools require grading standards that conform to grade point averages based on the 4 point scale. This page will explain how MicroGrade can be set up to work with the 4 point scale. We have also provided a template file using the 4 point scale that you can download and modify if needed.

Click here to learn more about how MicroGrade works with the 4 point scale.

The configuration as laid out in the sample template file is as follows:

  • If a student scores a % grade of 0% thru 60.999% (inclusive), they will receive a 0.0 number grade (Failure).

  • If a student scores a % grade of 73%, they will receive a 1.3 number grade.

  • If a student scores a % grade of 85.0 to 85.999% (inclusive), they will receive a 2.5 number grade.

  • If a student scores a % grade of 100.0% or above, they will receive a 4.0 number grade.

Click on the image to the right to view a screenshot of MicroGrade's Grade Standards dialog that shows the 4 point scale as configured in the sample template file; you can change these values to reflect your own standards.

You can create your own 4 point scale grade standard configuration by opening MicroGrade and selecting "Grade Standards" from the "Edit" menu.

In the "Grade Standards" dialog box shown above, you can change the % cutoff to reflect your grade standards. You can also, if desired, reduce the number of Grade Names -- for example, grading only every 2-tenths of a point instead of every tenth.
