Tip of the Month: Transferring Categories and Assignments

One of the most frequently requested features for the new version of MicroGrade was the ability to transfer categories and assignments from one class to another. Anyone teaching multiple sections of the same course will find this new feature extremely useful.

  1. Go to the Edit menu and click on Import Categories and Assignments

  2. The Select A Class File To Import From dialog will appear. Locate the file you wish to import from, and click the Open button

  3. The Import Categories and Assignments dialog will appear. On the left-hand side, you will see the categories and assignments in the class you want to import assignments from. Select the category or assignment you wish to import, and click the Import button. (Note: If you want to import an assignment and not a category, you will need to select a category listed on the right-hand side of the dialog that you want to import the assignment into).

  4. The category/assignment will appear on the right-hand side. You can select another category or assignment to import, or click the OK button to proceed.

  5. Your class will now contain the categories or assignments you just imported. You can make changes in the Setup Categories dialog if you like, or proceed directly to entering scores.

New Tech Support System

In order to provide more responsive technical support to MicroGrade users, we have launched a new online tech support center, eSupport. eSupport assigns a “ticket number” to each tech support request sent by our users. With a ticket number, a response to your support request is ensured and you will be able to view the status of your tech support request online at any time.

Using eSupport is very simple:

  1. Go to the eSupport page at http://chariot.helpserve.com
  2. Click on the "Register" link to establish a new account. You will receive a confirmation email that your account has been established.
  3. Log into your account and click on the "Submit A Ticket" link to fill out the tech support form. By filling out the form, the system will assign a ticket number to your request and you will receive an email acknowledgment of your request along with the ticket number.
  4. To check on the status of your ticket or to post a reply, simply log into your account.

Why Does Chariot Only Provide Technical Support Via Email?

Chariot, like most other software companies, no longer provides telephone technical support. Typically, when users called in with a problem, they didn’t have the time to provide a complete explanation. We have found that when users can better articulate their problem, our tech support personnel can more quickly supply a solution. Email allows users to take all the time they need to explain their specific problem.

New Administrative Features For Site-Licensed WebGrade Users

The site-licensed version of WebGrade now includes a greatly enhanced administrative module that provides designated counselors and administrators access to the following features:

  • View all class rosters
  • View all grade information available for any student
  • Edit/delete student profile information
  • Broadcast an email to all teachers using WebGrade
  • Export student data
  • Search for students with a specific grade (i.e., all students with a grade of ‘D’)
  • View site statistics (number of instructor uploads and student log ins)

Each site-licensed school can have up to five “administrative” accounts. Each account can be configured to grant or deny certain permissions.
